Today I chat with Jack Wormington, a name in the Secret Harbour that is to be rivalled, at least in the Real Estate industry anyway. I lived in Secret Harbour for many years and had drive past so many Jack Wormington for sale signs, when it came to sell our house, who else? When the time came we did actually source 3 appraisals, but Jacks approach and strategy was stand out. And as a result we sold 2 more properties with Jack were not disappointed. I can also attest to Jack being super sensitive around couples going through separate, as I certainly had a tricky one, and Jack made managing a difficult time, so much easier.

When it was time for me to give home staging a try, Jack gave me my very first paying job, and to this day I feel ever so privileged for that opportunity.

There is a reason why Jack is the go to person in Secret Harbour. He’s simply the best.

100% of properties we’ve home staged for Jack have sold within 7 days and above asking.

So Jack, your name has come up when talking to some other agents from your former agency and you’ve been referred to as a “Legend”…. Is this to do with your track sales record, awards? or? Please enlighten me!
Well that’s very kind of them! I would guess it would probably be down to the volume of sales I do, and many people tend to comment on this in reference to being relatively young.
What do you do differently, why and how does that achieve such good results for your sellers?
I believe that my point of difference is that I whole heartedly embrace change, technology and new and exciting ways to market and sell real estate. I work in a demographic where many agents stick to the way things have always been done and underestimate just how many sellers are looking for someone to really think outside the box. Rather than focus on growth, my team and I focus on improvement and know that growth will naturally come from this.
Talk to me about the progression from your former agency to launching your own? What made you make the leap and how is it going?
It was a very hard decision to leave my previous agency and branch out on my own quite simply because it was a great company I worked for and I worked with some great people. The decision came down to the fact that I had so many ideas that I wanted to see come to fruition and this just wouldn’t be possible working within the format of a national brand. It also came down to it being a better move financially and allowed me to further benefit from the growth of my own brand. So far it has been the best career decision I have made, we have sold just under 60 properties in our first 4 months and it is been overwhelming how supportive my local community has been to supporting the business.
What areas do you like to sell homes in and why?
My core areas are Secret Harbour and Golden Bay. Living in the area for the past 20 years has provided me with a deep understanding of the local area which is knowledge you just can’t buy. I believe that by focusing on these two relatively concise areas, provides me with not just solid knowledge of the area but unrivalled knowledge of the local market and most importantly prices, which gives my sellers the ultimate confidence that their biggest asset is in safe hands. It also allows me to immediately have all the answers buyers are looking for when moving to the area, which when the time comes for them to sell, they know from personally experience that they can rely on this first hand.
If you could change one thing about the real estate industry what would it be?
I would make the training requirements for people to be able to sell real estate a lot higher and have all people selling real-estate needing to be individually licensed rather than sales representatives working under licensee’s. The vast majority of real estate agents & representatives I know in this industry are hardworking people that are passionate about what they do, so I think some further tightening and control will help weed out any people not doing the right thing and elevate the public’s perception of the industry.
How do you spend your days off? (If you have any :))
I love a day out in the city, spending time with my friends and family (especially my 3 year old nephew Preston) and most importantly catching up on some sleep!
How do you have your coffee?

Mocha all the way! *Iced in Summer.

Thanks to Jack for taking the time to share a little about his business and how he got to where is his today.
